ACCRINGTON Road Runners' Glen Goodwin took the gold medal in the M50 category in the Dark Un race with a time of 38 minutes placing him eighth overall.

This was the eighth edition of the race, which raised the limit to 80 runners due to exceptional demands.

Taking a silver medal in the M50 category was Clayton-le-Moors' Alan Dorrington as he posted a time of 38mins 52secs. This put him ninth overall.

Finishing as the first East Lancs woman and coming second in the WSEN race was Darwen Dashers' Claire Davies.

Davies, who's husband also ran in the race, posted a time of 43mins 44secs to claim 26th in the full race.

Claiming a bronze medal in the M40 category was Chorley's Darren Fishwick.

Fishwick was East Lancs' first finisher in the race as he crossed the line with a time of 37mins 16secs to come in sixth overall.

Phil Simcock, of Rossendale Harriers, came fourth in the M40 race as he posted a time of 37mins 44secs.

Finishing seventh overall, Simcock, was Rossendale's first finisher.

Gareth Davies, husband of Claire, claimed a top 10 finish as he crossed the line with a time of 39mins 3secs to claim 10th.

The Darwen Dasher member also finished fourth in the MSEN category.

Trawden's Gavin O'Connor took 36th in the race as he posted a time of 46mins 30secs.

Finishing 1min 28secs behind her Trawden team mate was Dawn Tibbs, who also came fifth in her W40 category.

Trawden claimed 38th place through Paul Marsden as the M40 runner came in with a time of 48mins 47secs.

Completing the Trawden quartet is Allan Boult who came 39th after crossing the line with a time of 49mins 3secs.

Finishing just outside the top 50 was Ramsbottom's David Palmer. The M50 runner came in with a time of 54mins 13secs.

Five places below her Ramsbottom team mate was Brenda McGarth. The WSEN runner posted a time of 57mins 38secs to finish 55th in the race.

The first East Lancs M60 runner to finish was Darwen Dashers' George Thompson who ran a time of 58mins 11secs to place 57th overall.

In 59th place was Ramsbottom's Richard Ferguson who came in just under the hour with 59mins 40secs.
