BEN Fish made a successful England debut at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon, finishing 12th and first Englishman, in a personal best time of 2:20:45.

Keneth Mungara of Kenya won in 2:08:31, and with Africans taking the first 10 places, the 27-year old from Darwen was the second European home, His time moves him up into the top 10 in the Power of 10 National Rankings in ninth. He is also the second fastest ever Blackburn Harrier behind Michael Green.

Elsewhere, John Swift of Chorley AC was the winning over-70 veteran in the Langdae Marathon.

Sarah Ridehalgh of Accrington Road Runners was the first woman in the half at Langdale by literally a mile as she was seven minutes clear. Only eight men beat her time of 1:27:56.

Chorley Harrier Jackie Redmayne won the South Lakes half marathon in 1:36:20.

Darwen Dashers’ couple Russ and Sue Corsini were seventh man and fourth woman in the Anglesey marathon. Joanne Haslam and Janine Fallon took second and fourth in the half marathon.

Blackburn Road Runner Neil Sutcliffe was a little slower in the Great North Run, but 11 years after a quadruple heart bypass, 2:22 was a great result – as was the £250 he raised for the British Heart Foundation.
