STEVE Wilkes has celebrated two wins out of two, but he believes there's still room for improvement in his Padiham side.

The Storks boss has praised the team's work ethic which has led to wins over Bootle and Chadderton to leave them in fourth place.

But he remains concerned over their current lack of firepower.

"We've scored three goals in 180 minutes but not one of those has been from open play," Wilkes said.

"But I can't complain too much. We've looked more of a team this year and all the lads are working for each other.

"Our fitness levels are looking good, but I know they can do better."

Wilkes, who has re-signed midfielder Liam Denning ahead of tomorrow's home game against Leek CSOB, added that he was still aiming to strengthen his squad with further new signings.
