CRAIG Chadwick will make his debut tonight for Darwen against Castleton Gabriels.

The tough-tackling 28-year-old, who was captain at Padiham last season, can play in the middle of the park, but manager Steve Mullen revealed he would be playing him as a centre half.

And he hoped his experience would cut out the mistakes which almost cost Darwen on Saturday, despite their 3-1 win over Norton United.

Mullen said: "You can't afford to make mistakes at this level and I think that was a big problem last season, players losing their concentration."

The Darwen boss is also hoping new signing Stuart Telfer continues his hot scoring streak after bagging a brace on his debut.

Telfer, who is the new club captain, grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck in the second half with the sides locked at 1-1 and struck two spectacular goals to seal the victory.

Gabriels have been the whipping boys in recent seasons but Mullen, who has a full squad to choose from, said he was taking nothing for granted.

"The fact that they've been at the bottom of the table in recent years counts for nothing as far as I'm concerned.

"They're all difficult games and we'll be going into the match tonight with the same attitude we had on Saturday."
