Mark Hughes was delighted with Blackburn Rovers' 5-0 friendly win against New Zealand at Ewood on Saturday.
Benni McCarthy and Jason Roberts both scored twice as Rovers blew the Kiwis away in their final friendly outing before the Premiership starts.
Hughes said: "It was a good exercise for us. We wanted to bring the team on and we did that.
"I mentioned to the players before the game that it was important to maintain a high tempo throughout and that's exactly what they did.
"We wouldn't have beaten them 5-0 otherwise."
