BLACKBURN Rovers' stand-in boss Neil McDonald was pleased with a point as his side played out a goalless draw at home to Stoke.

He said: "I thought it was a hard-fought game, and in the end probably a fair result.

"We've made their goalkeeper work a little bit more second half which is pleasing, and we've almost pinched it in the end."

Against a side notoriously difficult to break down, McDonald praised how his charges settled and created chances, although Paul Robinson's effect on the game didn't go unnoticed.

McDonald said: "Every credit to him, he's made a couple of great saves today, and that'll give him more confidence for the season.

"He's worked hard to make his strengths better and his weaknesses better as well."

On the prospect of a return to international duty though, the stand-in manager remained coy, saying: "That's the England manager's decision I suppose.

"The sour point of today's game was of course the injury sustained by David Dunn, the extent of which is still unknown.

"Dunny's got a little bit of a tight calf, we'll assess that over the weekend and see how it is," added McDonald.

He confirmed manager Sam Allardyce is at home after been discharged from hospital and is ready retake his place on the sidelines next week.
