TEN-MAN Accrington Stanley were denied victory by a controversial injury time penalty in their FA Cup second round tie at home to Barnet.

Stanley looked to have survived John Miles' first-half sending off to book their place in the third round of the FA Cup, but John O'Flynn levelled from the spot in the third minute of injury time.

Michael Symes had earlier put the Reds back in front after Ismail Yakubu's header had cancelled out Bobby Grant's opener.

Stanley fielded the same 11 that drew 1-1 at Bradford City last weekend, with loan keeper Dean Bouzanis on the bench as Ian Dunbavin kept his place.

Symes tested Jake Cole with a 20-yard shot in the opening stages before Grant put a free header wide from a Sean McConville cross.

Staneley were largely on top and they went ahead in the 29th minute as Symes' low cross was flicked right-footed in off the far post by Grant.

But the Reds were reduced to 10 men just eight minutes later as Miles attempted to back out of a challenge with Yakubu but caught the Barnet defender in the chest with his studs. A straight red card was issued immediately.

Stanley then lost Dunbavin to injury before half time, with Bouzanis coming on for his debut.

Barnet equalised just a minute into the second half as a corner was only partially cleared and Albert Jarrett crossed for Yakubu to head home at the far post.

But Stanley were back in front three minutes later through Symes, who got on the end of a fine through ball from Grant and clinically found the corner.

Symes almost made it 3-1 when he headed a Grant free kick wide but Barnet started to create chances to equalise in the closing stages.

First Bouzanis saved from O'Flynn before the striker put another effort over the bar and Yakubu headed wide when he should have scored.

And the equaliser did come whe the linesman awarded a penalty after Jake Hyde went down claiming a tug on the shirt from Dean Winnard.

After the protests had subsided, O'Flynn stepped up to send Bouzanis the wrong way from the spot and earn a replay at Underhill.
