BURNLEY manager Owen Coyle could make young Irish defender Kevin Long one of his first January signings.
The Clarets have been tracking the 19-year-old Cork City centre half along with Celtic, Preston North End, Leeds and Charlton Athletic, and understood to be winning the chase for his signature.
Long captained Cork City Youths successful FAI Youths Cup and Munster Cup teams this year before making his senior debut away to St Patrick’s Athletic, coming on as a second half substitute.
It is understood he would command a fee of 165,000 euros.
Meanwhile, Burnley this week signed 16-year-old centre half Neil Yadolahi as a first-year scholar from Irish club St Kevin’s Boys.
The Dublin-based teenager has been capped by the Republic of Ireland under 17s, and teams up with Joe McKee, who was signed from Scottish club Livingston on a similar apprenticeship.
