Burnley manager Owen Coyle is hoping for a triple New Year boost as Martin Paterson, Chris McCann and Jay Rodriguez make progress on their road to recovery.
Paterson and McCann were both ruled out for three months with knee injuries – Paterson’s is cartilage damage and McCann’s a medial ligament problem. Rodriguez has been sidelined with a broken ankle he suffered in a reserve game against Hull City in late September.
But Coyle believes they are all on schedule.
“I don’t want to be putting them under pressure by setting dates,” he said.
“When they first get injured you always get estimates, and where we are now we’re pleased with how they’re progressing.
“There haven’t been any setbacks, so in the next two or three weeks we’ll probably start to ask more questions of them; step things up a bit.
“They are three young, talented players who would give us a timely boost.”
