DERBY County have been knocked back in their attempt to sign Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Frank Fielding on loan.

Saul Deeney's ankle injury had left the Championship club looking for cover for number one keeper Stephen Bywater.

They tried to sign Fielding from Blackburn in the summer and have now missed out on the England Under 21 international again.

"They (Blackburn) have knocked us back," said Clough.

"They do not want to let him out at the moment, so we are exploring other options."

Fielding is yet to make a senior appearance for Blackburn but has had loan spells at various Football League clubs, returning from a temporary period at Leeds United last month.
