ACCRINGTON Stanley chief executive Rob Heys admits the club must spend heavily on their Crown Ground pitch in the summer after losing another match to the weather last night.
The League Two clash with Macclesfield was called off at 5pm after an hour of heavy rain left the pitch unfit despite remedial work that had been carried out in the past week.
“It is a major disappointment,” said Heys. “And we do need to look to a significant investment in the summer.
“We have worked on the pitch and had a machine in and at 3pm it was fine.
“But the rain between 4pm and 5pm left the referee with no option.
“Everyone was ready for the game and there will be no-one more disappointed than Coley and the players because they want to play games of football.”
The game with the Silkmen is now likely to take place in the New Year with Stanley currently facing a busy schedule.
