THERE will be no Sam Allardyce hotline to Craven Cottage tonight – with his wife set to confiscate his mobile phone in a bid to aid his recovery back to full health.

Blackburn Rovers’ boss is due to undergo surgery on Friday to correct a narrowing to one his coronary arteries, with friends and family making sure he toes the medical line for tonight’s Premier League visit to Fulham.

Wife Lynn made sure Allardyce was unable to make any ‘emergency calls’ to his assistant and stand-in boss Neil McDonald during Sunday’s win at Bolton and will do the same tonight to relieve him of any more stress than necessary.

“He won’t be making contact during the game if it is anything to do with his wife,” admitted McDonald.

“She confiscated his phone on Sunday, so probably not.

"I will probably speak to him before the game and after.”

Allardyce has though selected the side for tonight’s clash from home and is in constant touch with McDonald throughout this week as he continues to plot Rovers’ climb up the table.

He is expected to be absent for the next two Premier League games but, as long as the procedure goes well on Friday, McDonald has stressed they expect their boss back for Chelsea’s Carling Cup visit the following week.

“He is still having tests getting ready for the procedure,” McDonald said.

“We are in touch on a regular basis and he is of course very happy with Sunday’s result and is looking for the same on Wednesday.

“It is a frustrating time for him but he needs to get his health sorted out but he is still on the phone to us.

"When you talk about the heart it is always a concern.

“He is one of those managers who gets checked regularly.

"He knows about the stresses of the job and looks after his body.

"That is why he has picked this up when he has done.

"If he didn’t the consequences might have been worse.”
