ACCRINGTON Stanley travel to Port Vale tonight just 24 hours after their opponents put their entire squad on the transfer list, but boss John Coleman is not allowing himself to get carried away with Friday’s 5-3 win over Crewe.

That victory lifted the Reds to 12th in League Two.

In contrast, Vale lost 3-1 at Notts County on Saturday and frustrated boss Micky Adams announced after the game that all of his squad would be put up for sale.

But Stanley continue to face financial problems and back-to-back away games – they travel to Chesterfield on Saturday – will be a test of a side who have been inconsistent on their travels.

Coleman, therefore, is not allowing himself to think about challenging for the top seven just yet.

“Our first priority is to get ourselves in a position both on and off the field where we’re still playing league football next season,” he said.

“We’ll give it our best shot tonight and we hope we put in a performance like we put in at Bury and Oldham, and not the performance we put in at Hereford and Aldershot.”

And the Stanley boss has reserved praise for Andy Procter, who was on the scoresheet against Crewe.

“Andy is back to what he was the season before last,” said Coleman. “If there’s a better midfielder in the league at the moment, I haven’t seen him.”
