AN early goal from Alex Nicholls gave Walsall the edge over Accrington Stanley at half-time in the first round of the Carling Cup tonight.
But there could be hope for Stanley in the second half against the League One outfit, who are down to 10 men thanks to the dismissal of Rhys Weston.
Stanley had grown stronger as the first period drew to a close and went close through Luke Joyce.
