Ramsbottom claimed a much-needed victory with a 6-3 win over struggling St Helens Town - but it was not as clear cut as the scoreline would suggest St Helens took a shock lead after just five minutes when the home side failed to clear their defence and Karl Ledsham slotted home before Matt Woods levelled from 30-yards.

And on 19 minutes it was 2-1 as a well judged through ball by Andy Sensale allowed Eddie O'Neill to side step the ball to give them the lead and St Helens skipper Neil Jones was sent off.

Matt Ellis made it 3-1 win a penalty and Sensale raced 60 yards to make it 4-1 on 51 minutes to put United in control. But in a mad 20 minutes, St Helens made it 4-3 thanks to a penalty and a long-range effort.

But United blushes were spared on 83 minutes when a great through ball allowed Lee Connell to score and two minutes from time Jon Stephenson put the final nail in St Helens coffin with a well taken goal from 20 yards to complete the scoring.
