Rotherham United boss Paul Warne couldn't deny Rovers their equaliser, despite feeling Ben Brereton was offside when squaring for Bradley Dack.

Dack scored the Rovers equaliser six minutes after Michael Smith handed the Millers the lead with a header from Ryan Williams’ cross.

Tony Mowbray’s side dominated the second half but were denied time and again by Millers ‘keeper Marek Rodak and some last ditch defending.

But it needed Dack’s 10th goal of the season to draw Rovers level and deny Warne’s side a first away win in the Championship since April 2016.

“Their goal is offside,” Warne said.

“I'm not being a baby about it because they definitely deserved a goal, but it's just disappointing that we might have hung on for three points which would have made it a very good day.

“There’s no way I could look you in the face and say Blackburn didn’t deserve to score because they definitely did and the lads know that, but the good thing is when we watch the game back with the lads on Monday and show them the good and bad bits, with a point in the bag, it makes it easier for them to learn and improve.”

Warne felt his side started well, as Joe Mattock headed over a good opportunity in the 14th minute, while Richie Towell’s shot found the roof of the net.

Smith scored with his side’s only shot on target, and Warne added: “It's a point gained, not two dropped.

“I thought we started the game really well.

“For 25 minutes, we were excellent. We were in and around Smudge (Smith) getting second balls.

“It's a difficult place to come to. Their home record is phenomenal. They've lost one in 30-odd games and beat Leeds United here not long ago.”

Rotherham chalked up a third consecutive point on the road, after draws at both Middlesbrough and Preston, to sit 19th in the table after 17 games.

And despite the wait for an away win in the Championship being extended, Warne said: “It’s all about when you get your opportunities away from home especially, you’ve got to be even more ruthless than at home.

“I think that, accompanied with the fact that the lads have been performing on the whole really good at home - they’re human and all want love and respect - I think they’ve taken more and more belief from the fact that their performances at home have been good, and I think we come to places like this, and have a real belief and togetherness that they can upset teams, which maybe they didn’t have at the start of the season.”
