BURNLEY skipper Dan Pickup is turning his attention to T20 glory and ensuring his side finish in the top 12 of the Lancashire League this season after their Worsley Cup disappointment.

The Turf Moor men were beaten by neighbours Lowerhouse in Sunday's showpiece and Pickup wants his side to find a response when they entertain Bacup in the league this weekend.

Burnley have slipped to 10th in the table after a tough month but, with the rearranged T20 finals day coming up on Bank Holiday weekend, Pickup is keen for his side to rediscover some momentum.

"We have had a tough six weeks or so and have not been able to get our full side out," said the Burnley captain.

"That coincided with some tough fixtures against the likes of Walsden, Lowerhouse and Ramsbottom.

"We need to make sure we bounce back on Sunday. There is still the opportunity to win some silverware and anytime you win a trophy I think you have to class that as a successful season.

"We also want to make sure we finish in the top 12 before the split next season, we wouldn't be doing ourselves justice if we didn't so it is important for us to string a few results together."

Pickup made 24 in Sunday's final defeat as part of a crucial 36-run partnership for the ninth wicket and felt it was a game which could have gone either way.

"There were times when I thought we were going to win and other times they had the upper hand and in the end they came out on top," he said.

"It ebbed and flowed and ultimately they came out on the right side of it.

"I don't think we could have done too much more, we perhaps wanted 10-15 more runs with the bat but we came off at half time pretty confident.

"We got a couple of early wickets but their sub pro (Mark Cosgrove) batted sensibly and adapted his game well. It was an important knock for them but even when we got him out I thought we could win it but it wasn't to be.

"It hurts and it is disappointing but in time I think we can reflect on being part of a great final which I am sure was great to watch and it was a big occasion for the league with the turnout."
