A Lancashire Telegraph headline read: “Williams is about the best in the business” said by ex-Rovers and now local business man, Kevin Gallagher.

Well, I think he’s right. But of course, just because two people agree, it doesn’t necessarily make it right.

Here’s the 'in' for our corrosive cynics!

But John Williams, Chair of Blackburn Rovers is doing a good job as is Barry Kilby for Burnley.

This set me thinking about great positive things around us: The golf Open. Stewart Cink pipped 59-year-old Tom Watson to the title. But why was the anti climax such a disappointment to many?

15-year-old Tom Daley with his world championship diving gold and that wonderful Dad pride reaction.

But nearer to home: I visited Huntley's and on the way back saw the wonderful wild flowers displayed on the A59 roundabout near the Feildens Arms– well done Lancashire County Council!

Preston lad Freddie Flintoff making a major contribution to winning at Lords.

Multi world champion and local lad Carl Fogarty.

Local voluntary organisations, 4,000 of them in Lancashire, with thousands of helpers bringing small rays of sunshine to the young, old, disabled and many others with other needs.

Our teachers, care workers, doctors and nurses, police, fire and ambulance staff helping so many of us every day.

People just chatting to people: friends, acquaintances, total strangers...bringing other rays of sunshine to more thousands of folk.

'It’s not such a bad world', I thought.

John Williams does do a good job, but there are many more, unsung, doing an equally good job!

Not such a bad World, eh?
