FOUR of us have just travelled through Blackburn on our narrowboats heading across the Pennines to Leeds and beyond.
On our approach there were waterlilies, wildlife, pretty gardens and friendly faces, a sharp contrast to the ugliness we were then to meet.
The canal running through town was disgusting, the rubbish of urban life floating towards us.
The waterway and surrounding area could be a real asset and such a pleasant place for everyone to visit and relax in its peace and tranquility.
Come on Blackburn, be proud of your wonderful heritage and clean up the canal as other towns and cities around you have done.
FOUR SADDENED, BUT HOPEFUL BOATERS.
