DUE to the hard work of the Coalition, especially executive member for regeneration Alan Cottam, who personally worked towards detailed and responsible negotiations with the private bus company, the popular No19 bus has now been reinstated along with other threatened routes.
Bus companies nowadays are a partnership between operators and the local council who provide subsidies.
These subsidies are for the provision of a comprehensive service, rather than individual groups. Therefore an agreement was reached with the bus company to re-establish some of the former routes that were chopped in the February re-shuffle.
The private bus company must also be congratulated for their re-think on servicing all residents of the borough.
It must be stressed that no individual Ewood councillor was solely responsible for the return of this service. Coun Konrad Tapp, Meadowhead Ward.
