I AM writing with regard to the recent press coverage of the yellow zig-zag lines at school entrances.

On Friday March 20, I arrived outside the main entrance of St John’s Primary School, Great Harwood, at 3.05pm.

There was a parked car the zig-zags and half on the footpath. Two police officers rode past on pedal cycles completely ignoring it.

I called after them and they stopped. After asked them what they were going to do about it, they told me it was nothing to do with them and was the responsibility of Parkwise.

If my granddaughter whom I was waiting for, or any other child, had run into the road and had an accident, would that also have been the responsibility of Parkwise?

They didn’t even make a note of the registration number – which I did, and reported it at the police station later on.

The police force on the whole wonder why the public are losing faith in them.

MR G EVANS, Great Harwood.
