French four piece Cyann & Ben have a new album out soon. If this glorious EP is anything to go by it will be awesome.
This collection, their first release in the UK, is epic yet intimate, fragile but glorious, psychedelic and melodic at the same time. Like the best of its ilk it will carry you away to a different plane for the duration.
Sunny Morning, with guest vocals from Espers' Greg Weeks, is particularly special, with an ultraslow build over the seven minute duration swelling from gentle, nocturnal strumming to a wondrous, sound-filled dawn.
Let It Play also shines, with a sparkling opening, featuring sweet vocals, fighting its way into an electrical riot. Damaged Memory feels a little limp and disappointing, but only compared with the previous two tracks, and it well prepares you for the final eight-minute feedback assault.
Unsettling and unmissable.
