HAPPA (Horses and Ponies Protection Association) is offering a family day out at the Rescue Centre, Shores Hey Farm, Black House Lane, Briercliffe, on Sunday.

Doors open at noon and visitors are invited to take part in a programme of activities that include a display of western riding, a display of dressage to music, dog agility, a dog show, as well as a barbeque, various stalls, competitions and a pet show.

Entry is free and parking is available on site.

Farm manager Julie Jackson hopes that this year's event will be bigger and better than ever before.

She said: "There really is something for everyone and we hope to attract a large crowd of visitors. We can guarantee a great day out and raise vital funds for our organisation whilst people are having fun."

For those who can't come along to the open day and family fun day, the Rescue Centre is open each week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from noon - 4pm.

Founded in 1937, HAPPA is one of the oldest and most respected equine charities in the UK.

The organisation has two rescue centres, one in Burnley and the other at Brockweir, near Chepstow, Gwent, each caring for around 80 equines at any one time at a joint cost of almost £12,000 each week, as well as a large number of equines on loan in private homes.
