BLACKBURN with Darwen is at the forefront a national healthy lifestyle campaign to get people up and about.

The area is one of four flagship zones for Sport England's Everyday Sport campaign along with Newcastle, Barnsley and Reading Everyday Sport is designed to encourage people to build physical activity and sport into their everyday lives and Blackburn Ice Arena even put on an ice hockey camp to get the town's children active during the holiday.

Chair of Blackburn with Darwen Local Strategic Partnership Mike Murray said: "This is an exciting time for residents of the borough.

"Nationally, Blackburn with Darwen is the first to adopt the Everyday Sport campaign.

"Everyday sport can mean different things to different people, from taking a brisk walk at lunchtime or getting off the bus a couple of stops early, to joining a local sports club or registering for an activity class at your local gym or community centre."
