A CLITHEROE man shouted racist abuse at a woman waiting in a car with her three-year-old child outside the Muslim education centre in Holden Street.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Wayne Jeffries then exposed his genitals to the woman who could not drive off because she was waiting for her daughter to leave the centre.

Blackburn magistrates heard the "unsavoury" incident had occurred on the day Jeffries had been granted bail on other charges with a warning that he faced a prison sentence.

Jeffries, 20, of Holden Street, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance, assaulting Stephen Holding, racially aggravated harassment and indecent exposure.

The magistrates ordered a pre-sentence report with a view to a custodial sentence and Jeffries was remanded in custody.

Scott Ainge, prosecuting, said the first offence had been the assault on Mr Holding in May. He had been going home after a night out when he was attacked by Jeffries for no apparent reason.

The disqualified driving charge related to an offence in July and hours after he pleaded guilty Jeffries committed the offences outside the education centre.

The lady was sitting in her car with her three-year-old son when Jeffries, who admitted having drunk nine cans of lager, stopped at the side and began shouting racist abuse. He then exposed himself.

Rachel Adamson, defending, said: "He now accepts that his binge drinking is a problem and he needs to do something about it."
