FEARS are growing for the safety of an East Lancashire schoolboy who has been missing for five days.

Ryan Thompson, 13, of Colne, disappeared while visiting family in Cocker Street, Blackpool.

He was last seen on Saturday, December 10, by family in Blackpool.

Now police have issued an appeal for anyone who knows anything about Ryan's whereabouts to contact them.

No details have been released by police about where Ryan lives in Colne, or which high school he attends.

Blackpool Police are leading the search for Ryan.

PC Gareth Evans said: "We are growing increasingly concerned for the safety of Ryan as he has now been missing for three days and is believed to be vulnerable.

"I appeal to Ryan directly to contact the police and let us know you are okay.

"I would also ask members of the public to look out for Ryan and contact the police immediately if he is seen.

"We just want Ryan to return home safe and well."

A detailed description of Ryan's appearance has been released.

His hair is ginger and he has a freckled complexion. He has a stocky build and a North West accent.

At the time of his disappearance, Ryan was wearing a black Le Coq Sportif tracksuit top and bottoms, a black Nike cap and new black and silver trainers.
