RE the story Council gets blame as arts couple quit (LET, November 26) Alan and Joanne have been criticised as people who are greedy and just after money.
This is not true. They are the most generous couple you could meet and are only asking to be able to stay in Darwen.
The money would only buy a big enough property but would not pay for all the alterations needed.
This was not acceptable to the council, so Alan and Joanne have to close and move on.
Even the students have looked for property for weeks and have not found a suitable place in Darwen.
Not only have Alan and Joanne lost everything they have worked for but also the people who attended these classes have lost a wonderful teacher. The children who attended are also upset at losing their classes. As a member of the Labour Party all my life I expected more from councillors and yes, Janet Anderson, I do blame the council. It's not about money, it's about people.
