Birmingham City Reserves 1 Blackburn Rovers Reserves 2: SERGIO Peter brought the curtain down on 2005 in style with both goals in last night's victory over Birmingham at Solihull.
The young German opened the scoring after 19 minutes when he volleyed in a cross from Jemal Johnson.
There was even a Rovers connection in the Birmingham goal, which came from Njazi Kuqi, brother of weekend winning goal hero Shefki.
He scored eight minutes into the second half when he latched on to a long ball and fired it past Frank Fielding.
The young goalkeeper, however, made an encouraging debut for the reserves and caught the eye with a good early save from Barrowman.
Barrowman almost scored another when Birmingham were pressing to take the lead but Rovers kept them out before snatching the winner after 69 minutes.
Tony Kane and Keith Barker combined to send Peter away and he slid the ball in for his second of the game.
