A CHRISTIAN group which brings together churches of various denominations could fold if more interest is not shown from members.
The Churches Together in Darwen group is made up of members and pastors from Christian groups across Darwen and Hoddlesden who work together to carry out fundraising and community events.
But due to the lack of people attending their meetings the future of the group -- which founded the popular Darwen Furniture Recycling Store -- could be at risk.
Member John Griffin confirmed that the recent annual general meeting was cut short due to a lack of numbers and a letter had been sent to congregations and their ministers in a bid to save the group.
He said: "The participation in our meetings, particularly our AGM, was abysmally attended, and it was felt that it was not possible to find out what Christians in Darwen and Hoddlesden wanted to do or would support.
"The future very much depends on the commitment of separate communities and individual members."
During recent years the group has been involved in annual activities, such as taking the cross up to Darwen Moor on Palm Sunday as well as helping to collect food for the needy through the Darwen Food Larder.
It has also continued to support the Furniture Store and other charities.
It is hoped more people will come forward to help save the worthy work of the group.
