A builder has been cleared by a jury of a machete attack on an Accrington takeaway shop owner.
Lee Walsh, 28, of Princess Street in the town, was cleared of wounding with intent to do grievous harm after a three-day trial at Burnley Crown Court. He told the jury he was not the attacker and he had been asleep at a friend's house at the time, only leaving to pop to the corner shop.
The alleged victim, Mian Naeem, had told the court he suffered two severed tendons and had to have plastic surgery after a machete attack at Sam's Chippy and Curry House, Church Street, in September last year.
Mr Naeem claimed the defendant was responsible and said he knew him as he was a customer at his shop and allegedly parked his van outside.
