Coronation Street's Shobna Gulati has lent her support to the Recycle for London campaign.

As Londoners hope for a white Christmas, Recycle for Londons recycling team is hoping for a green one, with more people than ever before recycling Christmas goodies they might previously have thrown away.

Shobna Gulati said, I hope that people will take advantage of the fantastic recycling facilities being made available to residents across London this Christmas.

Across London this Christmas, were predicted to get through:

976,000 Christmas trees

123 million Christmas cards - an average of 17 cards each

Nearly 1.5 million jars of pickles and almost 800,000 jars of cranberry sauce

10 sq km of wrapping paper enough to cover Hyde Park almost 4 times over

Nitin Ganatra another committed recycler said: Recycling is the one stress-free thing you can do this Christmas. Whether its the wine bottles from a party, your Christmas tree, the greetings cards from your mantelpiece or your Christmas TV Guides, its easier than ever to recycle more this year.
