Mark Hughes was delighted with the way his Blackburn players fought back from a goal down to claim their seventh home win of the season.
Two goals from Paul Dickov and a third from Shefki Kuqi, in the 76th minute, completed a brilliant second half comeback after West Ham had led through Bobby Zamora's opener.
"It was a little bit open from both managers' points of view, certainly in the second half," said Hughes.
"We had to come out in the second half and really try to force the issue.
"We went in 1-0 down at half time and that was their first strike on goal, and when we conceded I thought it was going to be shades of the Everton game from the previous week.
"But it was a great response from the lads, we got back on level terms and then got our noses in front.
"Such was the game, though, we then allowed them back into it but then went again, and I think that's a great credit to the players.
"They weren't prepared to let this game pass them by and lose the three points."
