A man arrested for being drunk during last weekend's Blackburn Rovers v Everton game has escaped a football banning order.
Martin John Duxbury, 20, of Spire Close, Darwen, admitted being drunk in a designated sports ground and was fined £300 with £60 costs.
Blackburn magistrates said they were not imposing a banning order because the offence was at the lower end of the scale.
The court heard that police were dealing with another man when Duxbury, who was clearly under the influence, approached and told them to leave him alone.
He was warned about his behaviour and told to go back to his seat but persisted and was arrested.
Ian Holland, defending, said his client was ashamed of his behaviour.
"He wishes to apologise to the court and to Blackburn Rovers who he has supported for eight years," said Mr Holland.
