Music fans spilled out onto the street when hit band Starsailor performed an intimate acoustic set at the tiny Action Records shop in Church Street, Preston.

The band's frontman, James Walsh, from Chorley, joined band mates Stel, Barry and Ben to wow the crowd on Friday afternoon for a once in a lifetime experience.

The performance was one of only two in-store performances, the other being at HMV's Oxford Street store in London.

The band, who have just released their new album On the Outside, took no prisoners blasting out new songs and the classic hit, Silence is Easy.

Despite only being in their mid-twenties, they could already be described as music veterans effortlessly gliding their way through the songs which form part of the new 11 track album which they took time out to write and produce.

James, who now lives in Belfast, captivated the audience with his haunting voice during the performance and afterwards when the quartet took time out to meet fans and sign autographs.

Starsailor are one of two bands to be performing at Action Records in a week. Magic Numbers performed five live tracks and signed copies of new single, Love's A Game, on Monday.

Gordon Gibson, manager of Action Records, said: "Both of them were absolutely fantastic.

"The shop was absolutely packed for Starsailor, and they were spilling out onto the street when the Magic Number were here.

"The music was fantastic and we really struck it lucky being able to get both bands so close together."
