A WOMAN had her handbag snatched while shopping in Accrington town centre.
The 33-year-old was on Bank Street, on Tuesday, when she was approached from behind by the thief, who grabbed her bag off her shoulder. She tried to wrestle it back from him, but eventually let go and he ran off.
The bag, a large multi-coloured woollen shoulder bag from Gap, contained £40 as well as papers and other personal effects.
The offender was white, 19 or 20, 5ft 3ins, slim, gaunt and clean shaven.
He had dark greasy hair with a fringe and was wearing a dark hooded top, black Nike tracksuit bottoms, with a white stripe down the legs, and black trainers.
