Chorley player-manager Shaun Teale has demanded more commitment from his players as his side seek their first home league win on Saturday when Shepshed Dynamo come to Victory Park.

Teale, who last weekend took the opportunity of his own absence from the team to have a good look at individual performances, was hoping to be back in action for the league match at Rossendale last night (Tuesday).

He said: "Consistency is still a problem.

"We must get the monkey of that elusive first home league win off our back.

"We have been hit by injuries and players being unavailable at times, but we have not had enough individuals showing real commitment.

"Chorley have lost games to sides I don't consider top opposition, yet twice in the last week the team who beat us have gone to the top of the division.

"It shows what can be achieved with hard work. I have made it clear to the players just what's required."

Saturday's match provided a tough start to goalkeeper Phil Priestley's Chorley career.

The keeper, signed from Radcliffe Borough, let Bridlington in for a goal only minutes into his debut the 4-1 defeat. It was a better day for another debut player, Adam Roscoe, who crowned his promotion from the reserves side with a headed goal after coming on as substitute for Gary Martindale.

The defeat followed a 2-1 reversal at the hands of Clitheroe at Victory Park, when a late consolation goal from Tony Sullivan gave Chorley hopes of saving the game.

Chorley will be back in cup action on Tuesday when they travel to meet Kidsgrove Athletic in the first round of the UniBond League Cup.

The home league fixture against Belper Town has been brought forward to November 12 from March 21.

Striker Niell Hardy, who made two appearances in his second spell with Chorley, has left the club.
