HE'S toured with the Boss for 20 years, played with Neil Young and worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry. And on November 4, Nils Lofgren is coming to Colne.
The Municipal Hall date is the final one in his latest UK tour but the guitarist, singer-songwriter is hoping to back next year.
"I love performing live now more than ever," he said. "It gets harder to leave home for a tour because it means leaving my family but once I walk out on stage it's a bit like a medicinal experience because the crowd just lift you."
Although described as a 'pretty adventurous acoustic evening', Nils will be displaying his talents on an array of instruments.
"If there's a good bar room crowd in I might well break out the electric guitar," he laughed.
As a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, Nils has played at some of the biggest venues in the world.
But he is equally at home in smaller theatres on his own.
"I love to be part of a great band," he said, "but I do need to be a band leader sometimes too. When I have been playing with someone else I return to my own material refreshed.
"There is more pressure on you when you're not in a band. On this tour I need to sing every syllable and play every note. There is nowhere to hide."
The current show sees Nils changing the set list every night.
"It depends on the type of audience we get," he said, "but it's partly going through my back catalogue, a few covers and one or two surprises.
"We've had some beautiful audiences who really listen to the songs and that's really exciting for me."
Nils Lofgren plays Colne Municipal Hall on Friday, November 4. Details from the box office on 01282 661234.
