AWARD-winning acoustic roots band Show of Hands make their debut at Burnley Mechanics on November 4 and they will be unveiling new material among a set list shaped by their fans.

Singer songwriter Steve Knightley and multi-instrumentalist Phil Beer threw open the choice of songs for their 32-date UK tour to their 17,000-strong fan base.

Fans formed their own electronic "Show of Hands" on a special voting page on the band's website, the votes were then tallied to produce an ultimate "fans' choice".

The Burnley audience will also get a sneak preview of songs destined for Show of Hands' new studio album, due to be released next spring.

"It's always been our philosophy to involve our fans as much as possible in our plan," said Steve Knightley.

"Every tour we have fans posting messages on our website or coming up to us at the gigs requesting their particular favourites.

"But this was a chance for them to decide in advance the numbers they would most like to hear and help steer the set list"

The duo have also recorded a track to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Beatles Rubber Soul album.
