A Burnley whose wife is due to give birth tomorrow has been jailed for four months after admitting driving while banned.
Blackburn magistrates heard Peter Carroll had never sat an ordinary driving test and made no attempt to sit an extended test required after a conviction for dangerous driving.
Carroll, 42, of Florence Avenue, Burnley, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance.
Emma Kehoe, prosecuting, said Carroll had been banned for two years when he was convicted of dangerous driving in May 2003. The conviction carries an automatic requirement to complete an extended re-test. But he was seen driving in Whalley towing a trailer.
Andrew Church-Taylor, defending, said Carroll had bought the car in preparation for the birth of the child. A friend was doing some garden maintenance work in Whalley and asked Carroll to use the vehicle and trailer to help him move some trees.
