Burnley will face an Aston Villa side rocked by injuries to key players such as striker Milan Baros, midfielder Gavin McCann and defenders Wilfred Bouma and Martin Laursen.
Former Clarets loanee Gary Cahill also misses out on a reunion after undergoing surgery on his ankle.
However, the Clarets must plan without midfielder Micah Hyde for the first time this season through suspension, while Steve Cotterill also has several knocks from the weekend defeat at Crystal Palace to sweat on.
However, he said: "Going to a Premiership ground is something we should really be looking forward to.
"Obviously we played Villa last year and we know it's going to be a very difficult game for us, but you would like to think my players are looking forward to it.
"If you can't get motivated for Aston Villa away in the cup, you're not going to get motivated for too many games.
"It's a fantastic place to go and play your football, so they should enjoy it."
