REGARDING Mr Esa's request for planning permission to set up a cemetery on agricultural land in Langho, I, along with the majority of residents of this village, strongly object to this plan.
There are many reasons why the application should be refused.
1. Land not suitable for burials
2. Further traffic problems on an already busy and dangerous road
3. Adverse effect on trade at Northcote Manor (bearing in mind this business will have been contributing to the coffers of Ribble Valley Council for the past 20 years).
4. Adverse effect on the value of residential properties.
5. Most importantly, the vast majority of people residing in this area have no desire to see a burial ground here.
Surely if further burial spaces are required by neighbouring towns, it is up to the relevant authorities to provide facilities within their own boundaires.
Why should residents of these villages be subjected to the chaos created by burial ceremonies, particularly of people who have never resided here?
MRS JEAN O'CONNOR, Snodworth Road, Langho.
