MARK Hughes is insisting there'll be no let-up from Blackburn in their bid for Carling Cup glory.

The Rovers boss is keen to keep confidence high ahead of the trip to Chelsea at the weekend by making it five wins out of six at home to Leeds United tonight.

"We want to have a good run this year, " said Hughes. "It's not a distraction in my eyes - in fact I think it helps us.

"We are on a good run of form and we can make it five wins out of six so that's the aim.

"A lot of Premiership clubs go out at earlier stages of this competition and we have to make sure we are not in that bracket of teams that goes out to teams at a lower level.

"If we approach it like we did against Huddersfield we will be fine."

The 3-1 victory over Huddersfield in the second round marked Craig Bellamy's first two goals for Blackburn and he then opened his Premiership account in Saturday's 2-0 win over Birmingham.

But in between these strikes he has been suffering with an ankle injury, and Hughes is taking the cautious approach to unleashing his fellow Welshman on Leeds.

The manager added: "We're still looking to ease Craig back gradually. He had 30 minutes at the weekend, which we were pleased with, and he managed to score his first Premiership goal for Blackburn so he was obviously on a high after the game.

"But we are conscious that we want to keep him in the side as long as we can and if that means just exposing him to games in drips, so to speak, then we'll do that.

"If it's a case of missing one game or half a game to enable him to have a run of games over a longer period then so be it.

"If I feel he's not up to 90 minutes then he won't play 90 minutes, we are just trying to ease him in and get the best out of him, which worked at the weekend."

Hughes has revealed that he might delve into his squad and make some changes tonight, aside from the one that forces him to start Andy Todd in defence in place of the injured Ryan Nelsen.

"I might need to give some of the lads in and around the squad a game but it will be a strong side that I expect will be able to win the game, " Hughes insisted.

"Leeds are a big strong side with a good goal threat, so we'll have to be mindful of the strengths that they have. But I just feel if we play as well as we have done we'll have too much for them."
