A BURNLEY pub has been toasted by Parliament for the quality of its ale.

The Bridge Bier Huis has become the first pub in the town to be given an All Parliamentary Beer Group commendation - a mark of respect from the club of MPs interested in brewing.

The award was presented to Emma Harrison and Simon Scott from the pub by Burnley MP Kitty Ussher at a meeting of the East Lancs Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

Kitty was invited to the meeting after giving her support to CAMRA's 'Honest Pint' campaign which aims to protect beer drinkers from getting short measures.

The MP presented a certificate to the pub and was given a set of ales from Burnley brewers Moorhouses.

Kitty said: "It was also great to find a little time to relax in good company and in an excellent Burnley pub.

"The presentation from Moorhouse's was very much appreciated and I recalled my first day in Parliament when Moorhouse's was the guest beer being served."
