THE real story of love behind glamour model Jordan's Cinderella wedding carriage has been revealed -- by the East Lancashire family that paid to have it made.

The horse-drawn carriage looked as if it had just arrived from the pages of a fairytale when it took the pin-up -- real name Katie Price -- to her wedding with pop singer Peter Andre.

But it was an Oswaldtwistle family's dream of creating an extra-special occasion for a dying grandfather that led to its creation.

Sisters Melanie and Georgina McDonagh commissioned the vehicle to take Georgina's daughter, Savannah, to her first Holy Communion at a church in Manchester last year.

Georgina, an actress, sketched the design she wanted to make her little girl's day extra special and the carriage was then designed in America using her drawings for inspiration. It was then built in Poland before being shipped back to the UK.

Melanie, 33, a singing and acting teacher, said: "Our dad Gerrard had cancer and we knew he would never see me or Georgina get married so we wanted to make this family occasion extra special.

"He loved his grandchildren Savannah and Paris and they were always told they were little princesses, so that is why we went out of our way and got all the family to club together to get the carriage built.

"It meant so much to us to have this big family get-together and dad was so proud. Two days after that he was taken into hospital and sadly died just over a month later on August 26, aged only 56."

Melanie said the family's links with Jordan and Peter's wedding came after Georgina had read an interview with Jordan where she said her dream was to be taken to the wedding in a fairytale carriage.

Georgina, 31, who lives in Manchester, contacted the magazine to offer the couple the use of their carriage for the day.

Melanie said: "When Jordan saw it she fell in love with it and said she wanted it.

"She even asked Georgina and our younger brother Gerrard to act as liverymen and actually ride with the six Hungarian grey horses which pulled the carriage.

"Georgina designed all the outfits for the horsemen and the carriage was customised with baby pink satin-lined seats and a pink fur carpet."

But Jordan's dress and bridal train were so big she had to wear a pink mini skirt to travel to the wedding at Highclere Castle, Berkshire, last month because her own specially designed pink frock would not fit in the carriage.

Melanie added: "Jordan had always said she wanted to have a fairytale wedding like Cinderella and we are just pleased that we were able to go some way in making her dream come true.

"When Savannah saw the carriage for the first time she felt like a proper princess and I am sure Jordan did too.

"It meant so much to us and I am sure it will for them and anyone who wants to use it."

The family have now made the Cinderella Carriage available for hire. For more details, call Georgina on 0161 629 9465.
