BLACKBURN Rovers' two Academy sides both enjoyed thrilling victories over top class opposition at the weekend.

Rob Kelly's Under 19s performed brilliantly to overcome Manchester United in a game they won 2-1 at Brockhall.

And not to be out-done, Ian Miller's Under 17s thrashed Everton 4-0 thanks to a second half goal-blitz.

In the Under 19s, United struck first with their first attack of the game but a brilliant goal from Jemal Johnson got Rovers back on level terms.

Then Jerome Watt bagged the winner when he kept his cool from the penalty spot.

The Under 17 match was very much a game of two halves.

Neither side could make the breakthrough in a tense first half but Rovers then assumed full control with a devastating second half performance.

Keith Barker led the way with two fine goals and further efforts from Joel Byrom and new signing Ralph Welch completed the rout.

Meanwhile, Rovers face a long trip to Suffolk in the FA Youth Cup after drawing Bury Town. The third round tie will take place on December 3.
