A 21-YEAR-OLD man accused of murdering his five-week-old baby daughter has denied the allegation.
Andrew Ashurst, of Formby Avenue, Atherton, pleaded not guilty at Liverpool Crown Court to murdering Leah Marie Aldridge on Christmas Day last year.
The little girl was taken from her home in Coniston Avenue, Atherton, and admitted to the Bolton Royal Hospital with breathing difficulties on December 23.
After initial treatment she was transferred to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in Pendlebury where she died two days later.
Ashurst was further remanded on bail to await his trial beginning on May 4. Conditions of his bail include residing at an address not publicly disclosed, and reporting regularly to a police station.
Miss Anne Whyte, prosecuting, asked for the trial to be held in May to enable necessary medical reports to be prepared.
