Leigh RMI 1 Scarborough 4: RMI's hopes of picking up vital points in their relegation dogfight were shattered by a three goal blast during the last 15 minutes by Scarborough.

The Railwaymen took the lead in the eighth minute when Wayne Maden headed past Scarborogh goalkeeper Leigh Walker.

But The Yorkshire outfit equalised after 23 minutes. Karl Rose nodded in past stranded RMI goalkeeper Gary Kelly.

Leigh RMI took the game to the visitor's in the second half and missed a string of good chances.

And they were made to pay for their poor finishing after two goals from Mark Quayle and another from substitute Chris Senior gave Scarboro an emphatic victory.

Leigh RMI could have been ahead after only three minutes. Leading goalscorer Dave McNiven's shot from 25 yards was parried out by Walker and Harrison could only shoot over from the rebound.

RMI were hit when assistant boss Steve Redmond was carried off with a leg injury -- with Adie Orr making his debut, replacing him.

After 23 minutes the visitor's deservedly drew level. Winger Ashley Sestandych found space on the right and whipped in a cross for Rose who headed in from six yards.

After 51 minutes RMI were awarded a penalty. Gerry Harrison was tripped in the box -- but McNiven's spotkick was saved.

But it was Scarborough who broke the deadlock 16 minutes from time. Kelly pulled off a fantastic save but Quayle scored from the rebound.

Two minutes later Scarborough were awarded a dubious penalty. Quayle's spotkick crashed in off the crossbar.

And six minutes from time substitute Chris Senior rounded off a disappointing night for RMI when he flicked the ball over an advancing Kelly.
