TEN tons of scrap plastic was destroyed in a fire at a packaging warehouse on Bonfire Night
Just before midnight firefighters were called to Arrow Flexible Packaging on Bank Street Industrial Estate in Golborne. A handful of people working at the site had to be evacuated. Seven appliances were used in the hour long battle to control the blaze.
Flames spread to three nearby companies. Buildings at CDA Contracts and a car repair garage were damaged and 200 hundred wooden pallets belonging to Unit Pallets were destroyed.
A fire spokesman said: "We are still unsure whether it was started maliciously or by a stray firework."
