HUNDREDS of school children teamed up with Wigan Council in a bid to reduce the plastic waste mountain.
Pupils designed a recycling message and nine-year-old Natasha Walker's winning logo, will be used on a number of re-usable shopping bags. The bags for life will encourage people to become more eco-friendly and help to reduce the eight billion plastic bags discarded annually nationwide.
Atherton St George's Primary pupil Natasha received her reward including £50 in vouchers and a number of environmentally friendly goodies for her school from Councillor Sue London.
Cllr Loudon said: "Natasha's design won the competition, yet if we can keep the lid on waste we can all win and saying no to unnecessary packaging is one way to do this."
