THE match started with Padiham under pressure from Nelson. On 11 minutes a left wing cross and a Howe's header was well saved by the Nelson goalkeeper.
On 12 minutes a Nelson corner taken by Fildes allowed Sconce a free header and Nelson went one up.
On 19 minutes a Whittaker cross come shot went wide after good work by Harrrison. On 21 minutes a Harrison corner and Gill's shot was saved on the line. 30 minutes Marsden Padiham goalkeeper was kicked upfield and a lob by Whittaker kicked off the Nelson line by Dave Lee.
On 31 minutes a brilliant 25 left foot shot by Whittaker made the score 1-1 at hlf time.
On 59 minutes Gill shot wide for Padiham and on 68 minutes a long range shot by Fullard was well saved again by Carrington.
70 minutes Gill blazed his shot over the bar. Paul Fildes scored for Nelson on 75 minutes to make it 2-1. And the same player scored again after 79 minutes to make it 3-1.
On 80 minutes Parker was sent off for Padiham following dissent after first half booking.
